Cyber Mix, a concept album inspired by Club Cyberia, a dance club which exists in the world of Serial Experiments Lain, was released in 1998. It was produced by DJ WASEI CHIKADA, the voice actor for JJ, and Akira Takemoto, the series’ composer. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Lain, a sequel to Cyber Mix, Cyberia Layer_2, is set to be released. It’s been 20 years, and the boundary between reality and “wired” has blurred just as the anime foresaw. Club Cyberia has continued to exist in our minds and broadcast its minimal vibrations ever since.In addition to WASEI “JJ” CHIKADA, the master of Club Cyberia, the following DJs and musicians will be featured on the new album: Q’ HEY, the godfather of Techno, KO KIMURA, one of the pioneers of House, Hideo Kobayashi, a DJ who has released music on various labels all over the world, and TaQ, a composer who produces a wide range of music from game soundtracks to symphonies. The packaging for the album is designed by Yoshitoshi Abe, the original character designer for Lain. These renowned artists have come together to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the series, which still has diehard fans worldwide.

JJ役で声優出演したWASEI CHIKADAとlain本編の音楽を担当した竹本晃（タケモトアキラ）が楽曲を制作し、劇中に存在した「クラブ・サイベリア」のコンセプトアルバムとして1998年に発表された『Cyberia Mix』。lainの20周年を記念して、この『Cyberia Mix』の続編的位置付けとなる『Cyberia Layer_2』のリリースが決定した。あれから20年。アニメの世界が予見していたかのように、今、Wiredと現実の境目はより不鮮明になった。その間、クラブ・サイベリアは人々の意識に存在しミニマルなヴァイブレーションを送り続けていたのだ。「現代のサイベリア」を具現化するのはサイベリアの主人・WASEI “JJ” CHIKADAの他、Techno界のゴッドファーザーQ’HEY、Houseミュージックの草分け的存在のKO KIMURA、世界各国のレーベルから楽曲をリリースしているHIDEO KOBAYASHI、ゲーム音楽からオーケストレーションまでこなす音楽家TaQなど日本のTop DJ & Musicianたち。また、CDアルバムのジャケットアートは、lainのオリジナル・キャラクター・デザインを担当した安倍吉俊が手がける。未だ世界中にコアなファンを有するlainの20周年を祝うため、超豪華なメンバーがこの『Cyberia Layer_2』に参加することとなった。
